Orlando Sciotti of Tawas City passed away on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015 at Lakeview Manor Healthcare Center in Tawas City, age 92 years. Orlando was born on May 25, 1922 in Salina, Pa. to Romolo and Teresa (Scalise) Sciotti. He married his wife, Lucille Catherine (Schimmel), on Aug. 20, 1949. Together, they celebrated 64 beautiful years of marriage until her passing on Feb. 22, 2014. Orlando is a World War II veteran achieving many meritorious awards, metals and ribbons for his achievements and bravery. He was very community oriented and participated with the Sand Lake Association and Sand Lake Days. He loved spending time with his family and friends and had enjoyed all the fun times together, especially the hundreds of card games! Orlando was also an avid outdoorsman. He liked hunting and trapping and had a passion for all sports. Orlando coached softball in his earlier years, and was part of the "chain-gang" for the high school football games for several years, until he had to retire that position at age 90. A portrait of an Indian has been donated to Tawas Area Schools on behalf of his love for Tawas Area and the schools athletics. Orlando will always be remembered as a caring, generous, and loving husband, father and grandfather. These thoughts and great memories will be forever remembered by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his eight children, Sandra (Mark) Fortin, Margaret (Carl) Celli, Deborah (Richard) Neier, John (Robin) Sciotti, Maria (Richard) DeKeyser, Joseph (Melissa) Sciotti, Lucy Sciotti and Susan (Michael) Weatherwax; 12 grandchildren, Marc, Jennifer, Carrie, Andrea, Christina, Andrew, Joel, Donald, Megan, Serina, Jake and Marisa; nine great grandchildren, Erika, Gary, Sarah, Brittany, Savannah, Kylie, Bret, Allie and Reid; one great-great grandson, Ju'ell; one brother, George Sciotti; one sister, Polly Murphy; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and dear friends. Along with his late wife Lucille, Orlando is also preceded in death by his parents, Romolo and Teresa (Scalise) Sciotti. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and he will be laid to rest next to his wife, Lucille, in Pioneer Cemetery in Sand Lake where they will be together again. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date to be announced. Cremation arrangements are by Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City.
