SHERMAN - Olin Ray Womack longtime resident passed into eternal rest on November 22, 2016 at WNJ Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 25, from 6-8 p.m. at Waldo Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 26, at 10 a.m. at the Waldo Funeral Home chapel. Interment will follow at Akers Cemetery with Thad Walters, Butch Hilliard, Cecil Womack, Chris Briscoe, Gary Shaw, Ron "Boogie" Nixon, Kevin Walters and Jude Walters serving as pallbearers. Elder Rickie Humphrey will officiate.Olin "Ray" as he was known to everyone was born on March 1, 1955 in Dallas, Texas to Bennie Richard Sr. and Billie Marie Womack. He married Patricia Fay Adams in Dallas, Texas on October 1, 1976. They celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary just last month.As a young adult, Ray had many different sport endeavors. He had been a wrestling referee at the Sportatorium in Dallas, and he was a baseball umpire for Sherman little league with his mentor, Earnest Shaddy. His favorite sport was football, and he played for the semi-professional football team "Gainey's Gamblers" in Denison, Texas. He played different positions on the defensive line. Recently, Ray could be found at Football, Baseball, and Softball games for his beloved grandkids. He took every opportunity to be there to support his grandkids, and their teammates, whom affectionately called him "PawPaw Ray". The umpires and referees always knew Ray would keep them all in check.Ray had many different occupations from Tree service to truck driving. Ray was truly a jack of all trades, but the trade he had mastered was being a Master Electrician. Something he was very proud of, and was always willing to help out whenever he was needed.Ray also was active in supporting his community. He was a proud member of the Republican Party of Grayson County and spent a lot of his time helping the party out during campaigns and other events. Even though he was in the hospital, he had to vote for Donald R. Trump.Ray has left his family to cherish so many memories, his wife of 40 years, Patricia. Two daughters and his sons in law thought were like his own sons, Rickie and Linicia Humphrey of Athens, Texas; Thad and Jessica Walters of Denison. Brothers, Butch Hilliard, Cecil Womack, and Michael Womack. Sisters, Marita Chavez, and Frances Chavez. He had 2 granddaughters, Kaylee and Kyelee Walters, a grandson Jude Walters, one step granddaughter Kenlee Walters, foster granddaughter Jolie Demoure, and foster great grandson Ky'mon Destin Demoure. He had many other family and friends that will remember his heart of gold.Ray was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Claude, John, Benny Jr., Marcella, and Billy 'aka' Sonny; and one son in law, Noe Almazan.Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.waldofuneralhome.com.Services are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home.
