Norman R. Howard, Sr.Norman Richard Howard, Sr., 83 years old of Lafayette, died Saturday, October 12, 2013 in Regency Place. He was born on October 23, 1929 in Lafayette to the late Velma (Cline) Wyantt. On April 3, 1954, he married Patricia Ann Burton in her parents' home in West Point. They would have celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary this April. Norman worked as a Custodian for Tippecanoe School Corporation for 18 years before retiring in 1993. He previously worked for Peerless Wire, Brown Rubber, and Vogue Cleaners. He enjoyed gardening, playing the Harmonica and the French Harp, attending the Covered Bridge Festival, watching westerns and the Wizard of Oz, and John Wayne and James Dean. Surviving are his wife, Patricia, in Lafayette; sons, J.R. Howard (companion: Sharon) of Lafayette and James Howard (fiancée: Patricia) of West Lafayette; and sisters, Rosemary Armstrong (husband: Robert) of Lafayette and Betty Howe of Florida. Also surviving are grandchildren, Clay, Courtney, Curt, Carrie, Zach, Victoria; great grandchildren, Madison and Belle; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond, Eugene, Paul, and Harold; and sisters, Evelyn Davis and Helen Campbell. Friends and Family may call on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Chapel. Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Fisher Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dr. Clayton Kendall officiating.
