Norman Ray Norton of Bald Knob, Arkansas passed away on February 3, 2012 from a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was born on August 3, 1940 to Claud and Dimple Norton. He spent the first twelve years of his life in Arkansas and enjoyed farm life, fishing, and hunting with his father. Both parents had large families, and he shared loving memories with his many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Norman spent five years in Winterhaven, CA before moving to Yuma at age 17. He was a graduate of Yuma High School, Class of 1959. Norman was a carpenter by trade and a member of the Carpenters Union. He spent more than fifty years in the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. In 1963 he joined the Army, and served 18 months in South Korea, an interesting time he often told stories of. In 1966 he met and married his wife, Eva and helped her raise her daughter and three sons. The family enjoyed Sunday outings in the desert area and camping in the White Mountains. In 1992 they bought Trails End Park, which they sold in 2001 and retired. During retirement the couple traveled in their motor home to visit family in Arkansas as well as eleven national parks. He greatly loved to travel and enjoy nature. Norman was preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister Dian Stewart. He is survived by his wife, Eva; children, Kim (Ward) Seibel, Kevin (Shawn) Hawkins, Kendon Hawkins, and Kris (Julie) Norton; his sister, Julie Norton; eleven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Norman was baptized in 2001 and is resting now with the creator of nature he so loved. The family will gather to celebrate his life at one of his favorite places near Ogilby and walk the washes each collecting a rock to add to his ongoing collection.
