Norman E. Nickell, age 72, of Whittemore, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016 at his home. He was born on July 17, 1944 in National City to Perry and Lettie (Lambert) Nickell. He worked as machine operator at Prestolite in Bay City and at Cooper Standard in Tawas prior to his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and in 1967 married Marilyn Spencer. Norm liked to go to auction sales, play cards and visit with friends and neighbors. Norm is survived by his wife, Marilyn, and son, Scott, both of Whittemore; brother, Lawrence (Wilhelmina) Nickell of Twining; sisters, Jeanette (Ted) Lichota of National City and Blanche (John) Colvin of Whittemore; brothers-in-law, Gerald (Pat) Spencer of Twining and Edward (Barbara) Spencer of Whittemore; mother-in-law, Marion Spencer of Whittemore; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Delbert, James and Leonard; and sister, Diane Haynal. Visitation will take place on Monday, Aug. 29 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Twining Chapel of Buresh Funeral Home, 15 Maple Ridge Rd., Twining. Services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 30 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Nathan Jeffords officiating. Interment will be in Saints Cemetery in Whittemore.
