Norma Lewis Morrell - God saw her getting tired, a cure not meant to be, so He put his arms around her, and whispered. . . "Come with Me" on April 20th at the age 93 at hospice in Ellenton. She was preceded in death by her son, James Ernest Lewis in 1969. She is survived by her brother Lauren (Kay) Thompson, and daughter Linda Dale and grandchildren Tammy (David) Johnson, Michael (Missy) Lewis, Tonya (Matt) Bloome, Bonnie Darrah, and 7 great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. She was born on April 7, 1921 in Amsterdam, NY. She married Lloyd E. Lewis in 1942. The family relocated to Manatee County in 1962. Norma and Lloyd worked for Manatee County Easter Seals for many years. In the early 70's they opened Lewis Tropicals which they operated out of their home. She was widowed in 1975, and continued running the business for over 40 years. In 1981 she married Harold Morrell, who passed away in 2004. She enjoyed studying genealogy and joined the Osceola Chapter of the D.A.R. in 2005. She was awarded the Sweatheart Award from the General Grand Chapter of the Royal Arch Masons, International in 2012. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking for her family. The viewing will be at Groover Funeral Home at Mansion Memorial Park 1400 36 Avenue East in Ellenton from 6-8 pm on Friday, April 25th. The service will be at 11:00 am on April 26th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice 4151 37th St. E. in Ellenton, 34222.
