Ned Bruce HarrisBeaver, UtahNed Bruce Harris passed away at his home in Beaver, Utah on June 1, 2017 at the age of 73. He spent the last 20 months of his life courageously fighting Leukemia alongside his dear wife of 49 years, Gail. Although the illness weakened his body, it strengthened his spirit. Ned was born on November 7, 1943 in Beaver, Utah to Leroy Wilford Harris and Edith Nielsen Harris, just minutes before his twin brother Ted. He grew up in Beaver as the ninth of eleven children. He loved his parents and his siblings and had a wonderful childhood. Ned graduated from Beaver High School in 1962 and then attended Weltech electronics school in Salt Lake City for a year. He then served as a missionary in the Swiss Mission from 1963 to 1966. He had a life-long love of the Swiss people and culture which he often shared with his family. Upon returning from his mission Ned attended Southern Utah State College in Cedar City for 2 years. On June 7, 1968, he married the love of his life, Helen Gail Green in the St. George Temple. Together they raised one daughter and five sons.Ned served in the United State Air Force from 1968 to 1972. He attended basic training in Texas, completed additional training in Biloxi, Mississippi, and was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska and Elmendorf Air Force base in Anchorage, Alaska. Upon completion of his military service, Ned moved back home to Beaver and partnered with his brothers, Frank and Ray, in their farming business. Eventually some of his sons replaced his brothers as his partners. Ned spent 43 years farming and loved every day of it. He made the desert at "Kanosh" blossom like a rose and was grateful to work alongside his family. The most important things in Ned's life were his family and his faith. He loved all of his family members, especially his wife. He was a gentle, wise and soft-spoken man. He had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and would often discuss the things he had studied and learned. He served faithfully in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints his entire life and particularly enjoyed serving as a counselor in the Branch Presidency at the Beaver County Jail and serving in the Beaver Second Ward Bishopric. He is survived by his wife, Gail; his six children and their spouses: Jared and Trisa Harris, Matthew and Jennifer Kreth, Bryan and Tiffany Harris, Nate and Amy Harris, Douglas and Mariela Harris, and Shawn and Alicia Harris; eighteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; four brothers and their spouses: Dale and Fae Harris, Frank and Patricia Harris, Ray and Merlene Harris, and Ted and Patricia Harris; five sisters and their spouses: Ellen Pryor, Jane Arbon, Gordon and Lydia Johnson, Lavee Collins, and Lynn and Glenna Bradshaw; and brothers-in-law and their spouses: Rodney and Rosemary Green, and Tracy and Dottie Green.
