CARROLL, Neal J. Age 83, of Richmond, Indiana, died Monday, January 30, 2017, at Friends Fellowship Community. Neal was born on November 20, 1933, in Potsdam, Ohio, to Kenneth and Mary Wissinger Carroll. He graduated from Milton Union High School in 1951, where he was a member of the school's track, basketball, and football teams. Neal attended
General Motors Institute and studied engineering at the University of Dayton. He earned a Management Certificate from
Purdue University and took classes at IU East. Neal was a veteran of the U.S.
Army. He moved to Richmond in 1968 to work as an electrical engineer at Belden. Neal also worked and volunteered at Friends Fellowship Community for several years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Richmond, where he served as a Stephen Minister. Survivors include his daughters, Rebecca (Keith) Graves and Patricia Carroll-Jennings, both of Springfield, Ohio; grandchildren, Kathleen (Chris), Robert (Jhielysa), Sean (Jennifer), and Kara; great-granddaughter, Alexis Mardel; sisters, Shirley (Leland) Winteregg of Ohio and Linda (Richard) Short of Arkansas; brother, John (Darlene) Carroll of Ohio; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mardel Hope trueblood Carroll to whom he was married on August 23, 1957; parents; and brother, Lee Carroll. There will be no services at this time for Neal J. Carroll. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
