YORK Nathaniel Brooke Burt, 66, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Mary C. Burt (Lucia) and the couple recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on September 5. Nathaniel was born on March 21, 1949, in Coatesville and was the son of Arthur Burt and the late Miriam Burt, both of Coatesville. Nathaniel graduated from Coatesville Area High School in 1967. He was a graduate of Goldey-Beacom College in 1969 and a graduate of York College in 1973. He earned his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in 1986 and thoroughly enjoyed his 15-year tenure as Vice President of Finance at Penn-Mar Castings, Inc., in Hanover. In addition to his career as a CPA, Nathaniel also served on the York County Planning Commission for 18 years between 1990 and 2008, and was a long standing member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in York. More than anything, Nathaniel enjoyed spending time and making memories with his family, including his annual hunting trips with his father and brother as well as his annual beach vacations with his children and grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by his father, Arthur Burt and his wife Carole; his son, Nathaniel Thomas Burt and his wife Suzanne; his daughter, Christina Shook and her husband Jarrett; his grandchildren, Katherine, Nathaniel Charles, William and Olivia; his brother, Thomas Burt and his wife Holly; and his sister, Mary (Patty) Seay and her husband Tom; and many other cherished cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Miriam Burt; and brother Arthur (Puddy) Burt. Visitation hours are 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 902 Mt. Rose Ave., and 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Church, 231 S. Beaver St. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Keith Carroll as celebrant. Private entombment will be in Holy Savior Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Community Care, 4075 Old Harrisburg Pike, Mount Joy, PA 17552; or to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2935 Kingston Road, York, PA 17402. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff from Hospice and Community Care for their excellent care and concern shown to Nathaniel and Mary in the last month.
