Cress, Nancy J.STOUGHTON/ WAUSAU-Nancy J. Cress, age 78 of Stoughton and Wausau, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, at Skaalen Home. She was born on Feb. 17, 1938, in Wausau, the daughter of Arden and Sybil (Kipke) Weinkauf. She married Dan J. Cress on June 18, 1960. Nancy enjoyed her work as a bookkeeper for Marathon County for many years. She loved music, playing the piano and singing in the church choir. Nancy enjoyed learning new things, including a desire to learn to play the mandolin. She enjoyed swimming, was an avid reader, a creative cook and loved baking for her friends. Nancy is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Cress of Merrill and Evie (Jenny Vorpagel) Cress of Madison; and sister-in-law, Gayle Weinkauf of Onalaska. She was preceded in death by her son, Larry; and brothers, Glenn, James and Ronald Weinkauf. A Memorial Service will be held at SKAALEN HOME, 400 N. Morris St., Stoughton, at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, with Pastor Jim Koza presiding. Visitation will be held at Skaalen Home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Memorials in Nancy's name may be gifted to Wisconsin Public Radio or Skaalen Home.
