Nancy Carolyn StooksburyKnoxville, TNNancy Carolyn Stooksbury, 91, of Knoxville, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on December 31, 2016 at University of Tennessee Medical Center. Carolyn was born on September 23, 1925 in Jellico, Tennessee to John L. Stephens and Martha Stephens Henegar who preceded her in death. She was a cosmetologist for many years and lived in many towns including Knoxville, Oak Ridge, Memphis, Atlanta, and Cincinnati working in professional salons. She was a past member of the OES Chapter 215 of Jellico, Tennessee. She enjoyed many hobbies including nature and the outdoors, caring for animals, and a love for music and dancing, which earned her the nickname "Dixie".Carolyn was also preceded in death by her former husband, Edward Stooksbury, Sr.; and sister, Emily Irene Pinkston. She is survived and will be deeply missed by her son, Edward L. Stooksbury, II (Rosa) of Norris, TN; brother, Harold J. Stephens; sister, Betty R. Mobley; nephews, John Pinkston (Terri), Daniel Mobley (Kathy), Michael Mobley (Roseann), David Mobley (Sheila); nieces, Mary Carolyn Heiskell, Carol Ann Ladnier (Paul), Marquita Blanton (Lynn), Melissa Ann Johnston (USMC Lt. Col. Gary); and many great-nephew and great-nieces. The family wishes to extend gratitude to the Drs., nurses and Chaplains of UT Medical Center when she became critically ill. The family will Receive Friends at Norris United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 7th from 2-3 pm. A Memorial Service will follow at 3 pm with Rev. Billy Kurtz officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Carolyn's memory to Norris UMC.
