NADIA AL-TABAA Obituary

Jul 14, 1986 - Feb 28, 2017

This obituary is administered by:
Nadia Michelle Al-Tabaa, 30, passed away on February 28, 2017 in Madison, WI. Her family and friends were at her side to the very end. Nadia was born on July 14, 1986 in El Paso, TX to Esther and Ramiz Al-Tabaa, and gave Najwa the joy of becoming a big sister. Growing up, Nadia was filled with an enthusiasm and curiosity for life. Her love of music began at an early age, where she began playing the violin and piano. Many of her life long friends were made through a shared love of music. Nadia was also a feisty martial artist - she practiced Judo, Karate, and Kendo. Through Judo, Nadia met her husband Jaime Rasura, who she bested many times on the mat. Nadia had a keen desire for knowledge and a brilliant mind. After graduating from J.M. Hanks High School in 2004, she went on to continue her pursuit of knowledge at Loyal University Chicago where she majored in Psychology, and minored in Music and Neuroscience. Nadia continued to pursue her education and earned an M.S. in Experimental Psychology from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. At the time of her death, she was pursuing a doctoral degree in Educational Psychology at the University of Wisconsin. Despite Nadia's tragic death, she was an organ donor and her gift has helped save the lives of many people. Her generous spirit followed her in death. Nadia loved birds, drawing, gardening, and thrift store shopping. Her sarcastic wit, infectious laugh, and kind soul brought a smile to your face. She impacted everyone she met, and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made in Nadia's name to one of the following organizations: American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Brain & Behavioral Research Foundation, National Alliance on Mental Illness, Suicide Prevention Life Line, and Depression & Bipolar Support Alliance. The memorial service will take place on Saturday, March 11, at 5 pm at Funeraraia Del Angel Martin Central, 3839 Montana.
