Lotto, MyronMyron "Mike" P. Lotto, 92, a Green Bay resident, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2017. Mike was born on April 7, 1925, to the late Merce and Frances (Bukoski) Lotto. He was married on June 1, 1946, to the late Margaret Hutjens, who preceded him in death on April 29, 2013.Mike was a graduate of Central Catholic High School. He took over the family farm at the age of 17 after the death of his father, receiving an agriculture deferment from military service; however, he served in the State Guard for a number of years.Mike was active in both local and state politics. He was town chairman of the former Town of DePere, now Ledgeview, and was a member of the Brown County Board for 16 years and its chairman for 6 years. In 1968 he was elected to the State Senate. For over 20 years Mike held the position of executive secretary and/or legislative representative of several state-wide organizations. Of all his political endeavors, he was most proud of his proposal to have the Town of DePere's name changed to the Town of Ledgeview to gain the town its own identity.Mike loved music and was a life-long member of his church's choir. He was a self-taught musician of a number of instruments, but his greatest love was playing the harmonica which he continued doing for church services and other's enjoyment through his final years. He instilled this love of music in all his children. Mike and his wife started a 4-H Club, and he was a 4-H leader for many years. He never lost his love of the land and helped his farming sons with field work late into his life. He also did volunteer work at St. Vincent de Paul for many years.He will be deeply missed by his children, Michael (Diane) Lotto, Greenleaf; Nancy (Jim) Pierce, Santa Fe, NM; Cindy (Steve) Otto, Neenah; Diane (Larry) Studley, Tucson, AZ; Lou (Rick) Kidd, Bernie (Janet) Lotto and Denis Lotto all of Green Bay. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Regina Grimes, Verna Reinert, Helen Skaletski and Loraine "Tootsie" Nowak and two brothers, Mitchell and Lawrence Lotto.Visitation will be at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Parish Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 3, 2017. Visitation will continue at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 3425 Willow Rd., from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass on Saturday, November 4, 2017. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Church with Rev. Daniel Viertel officiating. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
