Monty GravattMonty Gravatt, 84, passed away on October 13, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on April 9, 1931 to Fremont and Lillie "Tillie" Ellis. He was raised by his mother Lillie and Warren Gravatt.Monty attended Pocatello High School, graduating in 1949, after which he enlisted in the Army. He was stationed in the San Francisco area as an M.P. (Military Police). Upon his honorable discharge he returned to his hometown.Shortly after returning, he met the love of his life, Glenda Akers. He married this fine lady and together they had three children (Craig, Leslie and Cary.) They both enjoyed family gatherings, camping, and travel. They were both involved with the bowling community throughout their marriage. Monty coached Junior Bowlers for many years, inspiring many to the lifelong sport. He was inducted into the Pocatello Bowlers "Hall of Fame" in 1991.Monty and Glenda were avid motorcyclist, being members of the Idaho Motorcycle Club, holding the office of president of the Pocatello chapter. He and Glenda enjoyed many, many miles together with friends and family. He worked at FMC for several years, then went on to work for the city of Pocatello as a greens keeper at Highland Golf Course, and later for the Parks and Rec. Department until retirement.After the passing of Glenda in 1992, he remained focused on his family, especially his 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. His other passion in life were his regular visits to the Red Cross to donate blood for those in need, of which, since 1953, he has donated more than 32 gallons, to date. Monty is survived by his 2 sons, Craig (Lisa) Gravatt of Pocatello and Cary of Las Vegas, N.V.; his daughter Leslie Tomblison of Pocatello; sister Leona (Frank) Roeckner of Pocatello; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.Per Monty's wishes, no services were held.
