Ms. Minnie Lee Rhames, of Philadelphia, PA departed the world on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at age 68. Minnie was born to parents, Winifred Elizabeth Rhames and Levi Daniels on September 8, 1949, in Philadelphia, PA.
Minnie was the youngest of her mother’s four children: Bernard, Mary, and Mabel. She attended West Philadelphia High School. There, she was very active in sports and other activities. At a young age, Minnie found her love for the teachings of Jesus Christ and she believed that through her faith in Jesus anything was possible.
Minnie had several jobs as a young adult and into adulthood, working in a dry cleaners and, later, a pickle factory. She was very proud of the work she did because she always did her best at anything she did, even more so when she worked at the pickle factory because she loved to eat pickles so much.
Minnie was devoted to her four children: Lawrence Kane, Florence Chaplin, Richard Kane, and Rodney Jones. This devotion would be passed down to her children’s children: Maurice Smith, Jasmine Mclauren, Martez Lyles, Marcus Lyles, Yatazzia Kane, Rodear Jones, and Arianna Jones, in addition to great-grandchildren Demaj Thomas Mclaurin, Demi Olivia Lyles, Journee Dior Lyles, and Celab Maurice Smith. Minnie was blessed to be able to spend time with some of her great-grandchildren as well.
Minnie loved to talk about her love for Jesus Christ, dance, sing, laugh, listen to music, and spend time with those closest to her, her family and some of her closest friends: Dice, Snap, and Debbie. Minnie was also deeply in love with Rodney Costello Jones, Sr., father of Rodney, but their respective illnesses would keep them apart in the physical but not in their hearts.
Her four living children, her sister Mabel and Mabel’s living children, her grandchildren, and her four great-grandchildren survive Minnie.
