Strength Honor Courage

Mildred Virginia Wolfe arrived on February 19, 1939, to parents Jim and Lena Pearl Williams in Demopolis,  Alabama.

She attended US Jones School where she would find her love for her education and music as she was a very talented singer.  In 1958 she headed to Fisk University where she would join the Fisk Jubilee Choir.  With a wild spirit and love for the unknown, she went to join her family and later married Sam Wolfe Jr. in 1961. The two headed for California to start their new life.

Sam and Mildred were blessed with three children, the eldest Bridget B. Williams, Susan Woodfin and Sam Wolfe III.  They were again blessed with six grandchildren; Julian Francis Woodfin, Kaniqua Tai Niaja, Ciera Jane Woodfin, Jerome Dennis Woodfin III, Samuel Jovan Wolfe IV, and Janelle Lideya Wolfe.

Not only did Mildred raise three children, but she also completed a Bachelor’s degree in English and Masters of Philosophy from Cal State Dominguez Hills. She passed down her passion for education and music and inspired her children and grandchildren to pursue both of her loves.  Anyone that met Mildred knew she was a strong, no-nonsense woman. She approached her illness the same way she tackled life, with strength, honor, and courage.

On the other side awaits her first and beloved Grandson "Boo" Julian Francis, Mother Lena P Williams, Father Jim Williams, Sisters Lucy B Way, Lena Pearl Reed (our Tiny), Bettina W. Porter and Sister in Law Lillie B. Williams. Preceding her also her son in law Michael Williams.

She leaves behind one sister Sara Fluker Bodie (Thomas). Daughter in Law Maxine Allison Telford-Wolfe, Son in Law Jerome Dennis Woodfin Jr.  Nephews Preston Reed, John J Porter (Ronda) and Wyatt Williams (Sherita) Nieces Terry Lee Standifer, Bettina H. Isaacs (William), Doris Reed, Wanda Williams, Pamela Porter, Patricia Morrison (Brian), Lorie Moody (Husband), and a legacy of great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, close supportive and loving friends who will live a better existence for having known Mildred.

Their Love Leaves an Indelible Imprint

By Leo Buscaglia

“I know for certain

that we never lose the people we love,

even to death.

They continue to participate in every act,

thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint

in our memories.

We find comfort in knowing

that our lives have been enriched

by having shared their love.”
