Machut, Mildred "Millie"Mildred "Millie" M. Machut, 85, of Kohler, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Meadowview Manor. Millie was born on January 29, 1932 to Emil and Bertha (Goedde) Machut. After graduating from Kohler High School, Millie followed her passion for helping others by attending Deaconess School of Nursing and Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was Class President and graduated in 1956. Millie began her nursing career at the University Hospital in Madison and also worked for the Milwaukee Health Department. She was the charge nurse at St. Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee for many years, then worked for the Milwaukee Blood Center of Wisconsin with their mobile unit. Millie returned to her childhood home in Kohler to care for her mother and finished out her career as a nurse for SunnyRidge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Sheboygan. Millie retired in 1995 after 42 years of nursing. She enjoyed keeping in touch with the many nurse friends she made over the years. Family was everything to Millie. She cherished the time she spent with her nieces, nephews and their families celebrating holidays, dining at the American Club and attending German festivals. One of her passions was history and genealogy. Millie enjoyed sharing her German heritage and speaking German; and made sure her family knew where they came from. She was a faithful pen pal to anyone who would write to her. She traveled extensively throughout her lifetime, most notably to England and Hawaii. She volunteered at the County Courthouse and Bethesda Thrift Store. Millie was also an avid Packer fan!Millie had a strong Christian faith and was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Kohler, where she served on the health committee and assisted the parish nurse. Millie is survived by seven nephews and nieces; Terrence (Jane nee Vanden Heuvel) Machut, Debra (Tom) Yetter, Katherine (nee Machut) Sullivan, Michael (Jane nee Kerin) Machut, Mary Pat (Rick) Mullen, Scott (Kris nee Johnson) Machut, and Matthew (Casie nee Cravillion) Machut, and by many great and great-great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Merlin (Patricia nee Johnson) Machut and her fiancé, Kenneth Boyum.A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 12:00 PM at Bethany Lutheran Church, 222 Church St., Kohler, with Rev. Robert Steele officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Kohler.
