Michelle Susan Collings, age 61, former resident of Flannery Towers in Elmira, N.Y., died peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Nov. 3, 2016. She was born on Aug. 18, 1955 in Towanda, Pa., the daughter of Angelo Frank (Bud) Pedro and Mary Patricia (Carole) Thrasher. Michelle is survived by her father, Angelo and his wife, Shirley; son, Eryk and his wife Melinda of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; sister, Enola and her husband Edward Nelson of Elmira, N.Y.; sister, Tina Nichols-Johnson and her husband Eric Johnson, with combined and adoptive families of Painted Post, N.Y.; brother, Ernest and his wife, Georgianna Brennan of Horseheads, N.Y.; half-brother, Angelo "Buddy" and his wife, Nikki Pedro of Dushore, Pa.; step-brother, Gary (Judy) Peterson of Florida; step-sister, Judy (John) Greiger of South Carolina; niece, Lynzie Nelson, with her son, Levi and her significant other, Scott Phillips, of Elmira, N.Y.; nephew, Andrew Nelson and significant other Alison Strawser, with their daughter Amelia, of Elmira, N.Y.; nephews, Ernest (Khristina) Brennan of Elmira Heights, N.Y., Billy Brennan of Horseheads, N.Y., Aaron Nichols with significant other, Meressa Borges and family, Austin Nichols of Painted Post, N.Y.; niece, Amy Nichols and her family of Painted Post, N.Y.; many members of the Thrasher and Pedro families and several members of the Joseph P. Brennan family; long-time friend, Mary O'Dell and special friend, Tim McConnell. Michelle was predeceased by her mother, Mary; maternal grandparents, Ernest and Dorothy Thrasher; paternal grandparents, Gilbert and Cora Pedro; half-sister, Marci Beighley; step-father, Joseph P. Brennan; and several aunts and uncles. Michelle graduated from Southside High School in 1973 and after graduation she was employed by Chemung County Nursing Facility and the Stop-N- Go store in Wellsburg, N.Y. Michelle was known for her home-made peanut butter fudge, humorous and timely-delivered birthday cards, and her Happy Birthday phone call song on each birthday. She was of quick-wit and always answered the question: "How do you feel?" with "With my fingers!" A special thank you to the staff at Elcor Health Services (Hickory Knoll).A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Pine City United Methodist Church. Burial at Old Zion Cemetery in Dushore, Pa., will be held at the convenience of the family.
