Platten, Michael P.Michael P. Platten, age 71, a St. Nazianz resident, passed away early Saturday morning, April 15, 2017 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. He was born on April 15, 1946 in Manitowoc, son of the late Anselm and Olivia (Burmesch) Platten. Mike graduated from St. Gregory Catholic High School with the class of 1964. On July 4, 1970 he married the former Ellen Karls at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Stockbridge. She preceded him in death in August of 2009. Mike was employed as a Mason for various construction companies until his retirement in 2001. He loved to fish and was an active St. Gregory Catholic Church member. Mike liked going on walks especially with his dogs. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law: Nick (Tara) Platten, Green Bay; one daughter and son-in-law: Carrie (Kurt) Bratz, Collins; three grandchildren: Ethan, Emma and Shaun; one sister and brother-in-law: Patty (Jack) Janssen, Sheboygan; one brother and sister-in-law: Peter (Diane) Platten; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Richard (Joan) Karls, Montana; Denis Karls, Stockbridge; Kris (Butch) Danes, New Holstein; Brian (Debbie) Karls, Stockbridge; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends also survive. Mike is preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law: John (Betty) Karls. Funeral services will be held at 5:00 PM on Friday, April 21, 2017 at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Patrick Nelson S.D.S. Cremation will occur at the All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc following the Mass with burial of the cremated remains at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery, St. Nazianz at a later dateThe family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, April 21, 2017 at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz from 2:00 PM until 4:45 PM.
