This obituary is administered by:
Michael John OslacWestlake Village, CAMichael was born on May 18, 1944 in Chicago, IL to Paul and Mary (Braccio) Oslac. He graduated from Marmion Military Academy in 1962 in Aurora, IL. After realizing the seminary was not the right path for him, Michael went on to earn both a Bachelors ('66) and Masters ('68) Degree in Electrical Engineering from Villanova University, and a Doctorate in Acoustics ('75) from Penn State University. In 1976, Michael purchased Oxford Speaker (Oxford) building it into a successful OEM speaker manufacturing company that accomplished many firsts in the US Loudspeaker Industry. Michael was on the leading edge of establishing automation in manufacturing. He also founded Oxford International, Ltd to bring US loudspeaker manufacturing to the OEM global community. Michael and his team maintained Oxford's leadership role as a global supplier to the US Automotive Industry in the '80's and 90's.Harman International Industries (Harman) purchased Oxford in 1997 leading Michael to move from Chicago to California to serve as Vice President of Strategic Operations for Harman from 1997 to 2001. During this time, he was taken in to the fold of his best friends, Joe and Mari Amoroso, and their amazing extended family. Having fallen in love with California's gentler weather during his time with Harman, Michael then founded York Lake Partners in CA in 2001. York Lake Partners served as a vehicle for Michael to not only use his expertise in the audio market place, but put to work his extensive industry experience in strategic management, mergers and acquisitions, business development, and engineering management. His passion for helping people turn companies around led to a successful consulting business, taking on the roles of President and COO of Tymphany Corporation, a leading provider of innovative audio transducers, partnering with an Angel Fund that financed start-ups in clean energy and serving on multiple boards. Giving back to his community was built into his DNA. Michael was a Life Member of the Marmion Board of Trustees and the Abbot Marmion Society, and a member of the Canterbury Society. He served on the Board of Governors for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley for fifteen years and the Board of Directors of North Ranch Country Club for two and a half years.Michael was the vibrant, humble, living embodiment of the two signs that sat on his desk: 'Attitude is Everything' and 'Nothing is Impossible'. He lit up a room when he walked in. Michael's interests were wide ranging and varied. He enjoyed traveling, wine, fly fishing, golf, spending time at his home in the desert, cooking and Home Depot. Michael loved having projects to work on around the house and could fix just about anything. He never met a wire or a tool he did not like. Michael is survived by his wife Melissa (Fink); his children Michael John, Maren (Jeff Sanchez) and Jordanna (Sammy Boskovich); his grandchildren Amanda, Allison, Andrew and Amber; and his great grandchildren Mason and Liam; and his sisters Marilyn (John) DiMaria and Paula (Jim) Nedwick. In lieu of flowers, please support the following in his name:?
