Evans, MichaelMichael Evans, husband, father, friend, and coach passed away on Saturday, November 19th at the age of 82.Mike was born on April 26th, 1934 in Green Bay to Emmett and Martha (Kiernan) Evans. He graduated from Annunciation Parish Grade School and Catholic Central High School. He then proudly served in the U.S. Army Special Forces during the Korean War while stationed in Germany. On February 24th, 1968, he married Kay DeNamur.Mike worked for the Green Bay Water Utility for 33 years as a Pumping Equipment Manager and served as a union steward for his fellow Teamsters. Mike enjoyed his job and the many friends he had amongst his co-workers. Mike relished coaching baseball and working with youth. He coached Fort Howard Steel, Teamster's West (earning "Coach of the Year" honors with Gus Zabel) and then Green Bay Southwest Legion.In his retirement, Mike stayed active doing volunteer work for St. Vincent DePaul, Knights of Columbus Ft. Howard Council 5382, serving funeral masses and ushering at St. Jude Parish and spending countless hours in his garden and flowerbeds.Passed down from his father, Mike was an original Green Bay Packers Stockholder. Additionally, as a Packers season ticket holder he only missed 5 games in over 60 years of going to the games! Even as a child he and his father would travel by train to away games. Mike and Kay enjoyed their first date at the Ice Bowl. Kay figured if she could get through that, then everything else would be easy.He is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Kay Evans; daughter, Tresa Evans Harry (Mark Larson); son, Patrick Evans (Jenna Bauer); granddaughters, Tara (Nick) Verhaagh and Sarah Hellmann and his great-grandson and little buddy, Emmett Verhaagh.Mike was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dolly and Harold Herres; brother-in-law, Frank Herres, and son-in-law, Bill Harry.Friends may call at St. Jude Parish, 1420 Division Street, from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23rd. The Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with Rev. Don Everts officiating. Entombment will be the Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
