Merenciano Sandoval, 90, a resident of Las Vegas, passed away on Dec. 16, 2012, in Santa Fe.He was born on May 4, 1922, in North San Isidro, to the late Pablo Sandoval and Magdalena Coca-Sandoval.He served in the United States Army during
WWII. He was a miner for 34 years at New Jersey Zinc Mine in Gilman, Colo. He loved fishing, hunting and playing the guitar. He was a member of La Morada de Jesus Esquipula.A lifetime Catholic, he was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.He was preceded in death by his wife: Eufemia Sandoval; daughters: Nora Tafoya, Eleonila Sandoval and Mary Ruth Garcia; grandson: Andrew Tafoya; great-granddaughters: Eternity Mondragon and Destiny Mondragon; brothers: Conception Gonzales, Lazaro Sandoval, Rosendo Sandoval, Jacobo Sandoval and Cayetano Sandoval.He is survived by his daughter: Maria Alicia Sandoval and husband Armando Chacon of San Pablo; very special niece: Victoria Perez; sister: Mercedes Delgado of North San Isidro; grandchildren: Steven Tafoya and wife Carrie of Palm Springs, Calif., Bernice Haro and husband Ron of Parker Heights, Texas, Roberto Hernandez of Henderson, Nev., Javier Hernandez of Henderson, Nev., Nadine Mondragon and husband Jeffrey of Denver, Colo., Richard Garcia, Jr and wife Martha of Dillon, Colo., Clarence Lopez and girlfriend Heidi of Ojo Sarco, Erica Lopez and husband Rick of Albuquerque; 27 great- grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.Rosary services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20 at Morada de Jesus Esquipula in San Isidro, N.M., and at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21 at Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas. Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22 also at Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Las Vegas, with the following serving as casketbearers: Robert Hernandez, Javier Hernandez, Steven Tafoya, Clarence Lopez, Richard Garcia, Jr and Paul Sandoval.
