Melvin (Dee) AndersenOctober 3, 1943 - September 28, 2015WILLARD - Melvin (Dee) Delos Andersen passed away at home on Monday, Sept. 28, 2015, in Willard, UT, after losing a valiant battle against cancer. He was born on Oct. 3, 1943, in Logan, Utah, the first son of Melvin Keith and Rose B. Andersen. He was raised in Hyrum and graduated from South Cache High School in 1961 and attended Weber State College for two years. Dee married his high school sweetheart in 1962. They had two daughters and two sons. The union was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.Dee loved working with his hands and became a master craftsman working for Merrill's Planning Mill. He was owner/operator of both a cabinetry business as well as a general contracting company. Dee was also the construction manager of Flying J Inc. for 12 years. He was a passionate outdoors man and especially loved horseback riding and hunting in the mountains that he loved in Hyrum, Logan and Preston. As a youth, he spent a lot of time on his grandfather's ranch and fishing the Blacksmith Fork River. He loved chariot and horse racing and all types of sports. He especially loved his golf buddies in his later years. Dee and his wife served an LDS mission at the Bishop's Storehouse. He taught Sunday School, Gospel Doctrine, and was high priest group assistant.Surviving are his loving wife, Elaine (Hansen) Andersen; two daughters and one son: Rosemarie (Trace) Kenny, South Weber, UT; Marjorie (James) Panter, Perry, UT; Shayne (Shannon) Andersen, Centerville, UT; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; his mother Rose; seven siblings: Robert K. Andersen, Brigham City, UT; Mark B. (Sherrie) Andersen, Nibley, UT; Blaine K. (JoAnn) Andersen, Hyrum, UT; Donald Gary (Dianne) Andersen, Hyde Park, UT; Paul K. (Debbie) Andersen, Preston, ID; Merilee (Dave) Olson, Smithfield, UT; and Julie (Craig) Olsen, Paradise, UT. He was preceded in death by his son Kevin Richard Andersen; his father and his brother, Richard Von Andersen. The family would like to thank Robert (Bob) Andersen for his quiet and compassionate service and also AFI Hospice Care.Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the Willard 4th Ward Chapel, 80 N. 100 West, Willard.A viewing will be held Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 East, Brigham City and Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
