Mearl K. McDougalGALION: Mearl K. McDougal, age 69, resident of Galion, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at his home. He was born on June 19, 1947 in Shelby, Ohio to Kenneth M. and Dorothy (Dininger) McDougal. Mearl is a 1966 graduate of Plymouth High School and had received an associate's degree from Bowling Green State University. He went on to serve in the United States Army during Vietnam. He had worked as a line operator for 47 years at PPG in Crestline, retiring in November of 2014. Mearl was a member of the New Washington American Legion and had enjoyed being surrounded by family camping, fishing, traveling and sporting events. His greatest love was spending time with his grandkids.He is survived by his wife, Marilee G. (Hollingsworth) McDougal, whom he spent 31 years together and were married on October 4, 2008; 7 children, Scott (Missy) McDougal of New Washington, OH, Keith (Jamie) McDougal of Basalt, CO, Todd McDougal (Karen King) of New Washington, OH, William Payne of Galion, OH, Kimberly Ark of Lewis Center, OH, Jennifer (Sean) Seaton of Galion, OH, Josh (Tracy) Rettig of Galion, OH; 11 grandchildren, William Payne, Lindsey Ark, Kirstyn Ark, Alexis Ark, Tyler Chartier, Silus Rettig, Arowen Rettig, Aiden McDougal, Mia McDougal, Mara McDougal, Maren McDougal; a great grandson, Brennan Payne; his mother, Dorothy McDougal; a brother, Milton (Paula) McDougal of Crestline, OH, 2 sisters, Marjory (Russ) Allen of Attica, OH, and Marsha (Danny) Conley of Tiro, OH. Mearl is preceded in death by his father and a brother, Miles McDougal. Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington on Sunday, February 19, 2017 from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M., where military services will be at 4:00 P.M. presented by the New Washington American Legion Honor Guard. Burial will be at a later date.
