Maynard J. Troyer, 88, of Rt. 6, Corry, Pa., died on Sunday, November 6, 2016, at his residence. Maynard was born on January 13, 1928, in Shickley, Neb., a son of the late Joseph and Clara Augustine Troyer. As a young boy, he lived in Shickley until moving to Spartansburg in 1937. Maynard was a welder by trade, and throughout his career, he worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad, Ivan Miller Potato Farm as a mechanic and welder, Corry Jamestown Corp., and Dowell. Maynard also worked at Litton Industries, a job he loved, as he helped build the Presque Isle Ore carrier and Stewart J. Cort Ore carrier. He later worked for American Sterilizer, now Steris Corp. After retiring in 1984, he enjoyed traveling, especially in his motor home. Maynard was a member of the Beaverdam Mennonite Church. He was also a member of the Heritage Cruiser Club and sang with the New Life Singers for seven years. He enjoyed playing the accordion and guitar, and we know he will be singing with the angels. In addition to his parents, Maynard was preceded in death by his son Jeffery A. Troyer; two sisters Wynona Harrington and Dolores Esh; and a brother Lyle Troyer in infancy. Maynard is survived by his wife Dorothy M. Stutzman Troyer, whom he married on June 24, 1948, in Corry, Pa.; a sister Wilma Dean and her husband Richard of Spartansburg, Pa., a brother Lawrence Troyer and his wife Evelyn of Goshen, Ind., and a brother-in-law Leonard Stutzman and his wife Marilyn of Harborcreek, Pa., Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home, Inc., 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., and attend the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Beaverdam Mennonite Church, 17721 Route 89, Corry, Pa. Rev. Randy Carr and Pastor Robb Esh will officiate. Burial will be in Lawn Cemetery, Beaverdam, Pa.
