Maxine Virginia Senf Obituary

May 06, 1920 - Jan 12, 2016

This obituary is administered by:
Maxine Virginia Senf May 6, 1920 - November 12, 2016 Raleigh We are celebrating the long and wonderful life of Maxine Virginia Senf, 96, of Raleigh, NC and formerly of St. Louis, MO, who departed us to be with God on November 12, 2016. She was many things to all us, including wife to Leroy H. Senf for 74 years (who preceded her in death 17 years ago); mother to Steve (Sandra); grandmother to Rebecca Lee Bass (Brian) and departed grandson, Michael Wallace Senf; great grandmother to Catherine Bennett Bass who GiGi truly loved; and sister, sister-in-law, and aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. She was born on May 6, 1920 in Poplar Bluff, MO to Charles Alonzo Wilson and Nora Brown Wilson at the family's "Vinegar Hill Farm." She was one of eight siblings, and her husband, Lee, was one of nine siblings. She remained close to all of them through their lives. While still living independently in St. Louis, she excelled in her garden activities, which were always one of her favorite hobbies. In 2012, she moved to Raleigh to be near her family. While in Raleigh, she resided at Brookdale/The Heritage in North Raleigh, and is remembered by her many new friends. Her last months were at The Oaks at Mayview. While in St. Louis, she was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, and later Webster Gardens Lutheran Church. During her life, she was an active mother participating at Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and school functions, while pursuing her career in Real Estate Sales. Personally, she enjoyed cooking, painting, ceramics, bridge, gardening, and fishing activities with her family, and the special times she had with her grandchildren. In her later life, she took up painting again and regained her wonderful talent. She will always be remembered as a loving mother who would do anything for her family, and her greatest joy in life was being involved in family activities. While we will miss her, we will always be grateful she lived with us and had such a powerful and positive impact on our lives. She was a loving and wonderful person. The family will hold a private memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to The . The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. James Parsons for his wonderful help with Mom; all of the staff at Brookdale/ The Heritage for their care, help, and friendship; and the staff at The Oaks at Mayview who were so helpful to her during her last months. Her many friends at Brookdale made her life enjoyable and memorable after her relocation. Special thanks also to Transitions Hospice for their aid and calming counsel during this difficult time for her and her family. Condolences may be sent to the family through her son or brownwynne.com
