LAGRANGE — Maxine M. Schlabach, 88, of LaGrange died Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at Parkview LaGrange Hospital. Mrs. Schlabach was a lifetime LaGrange County resident. She was a homemaker. She had attended Lakeview Methodist Church. She was a member of the Stuffed Teddy Bears for RSVP (Retired Seniors Volunteer Program) and the former LaGrange Eagles Lodge #3325. She was born on Aug. 22, 1925, in Fort Wayne to Roy and Margaret (Nebur) Culver. She married Walter S. Schlaback on Dec. 22, 1946, in LaGrange County. He preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 1996. Surviving are a daughter, Patricia M. Nelson of Wolcottville; a son, Dennis J. Schlabach and Julie Brown of Wolcottville, IN; four grandchildren, Andrew DeMara, Johanna (Andrew) Graves, Tyler Schlabach, and Haley Schlabach; five great-grandchildren, Audrey and Olivia Graves, Jayden, Mason, and Lillian Schlabach; and a sister, Deloris Wilkins of LaGrange, IN. Her parents; a sister, Mildred McKee; and two brothers, Robert and Paul Culver; also preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 21, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W. Michigan St., LaGrange, Ind. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange, Ind. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2014, from 3-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to LaGrange County Council on Aging.
