LOGAN - Maurine Marble Burton, 90, passed away Dec. 11, 2008, surrounded by family and friends. She was born on August 10, 1918, in Bothwell, Utah, to Daniel Milton Marble and Jane Simmons Marble. She married J. Legrand Burton, April 18, 1940, in the Logan LDS Temple. She lived in Bothwell, Utah, during her childhood and graduated from Bear River High School. After her marriage she and her husband lived in Garland, Utah. They moved to Preston, Idaho, in 1949 and lived there until November 2003. Maurine moved to Pioneer Valley Lodge in North Logan in July 2004 and lived there until her death. Maurine was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as president of the Relief Society, Young Women's and the Primary organizations, as well as a teacher. She served for a number of years as a temple officiator in the Logan Temple. She was an active member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Maurine is a cherished and beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her children, James (Terri) Burton of Pleasant View, and Debra Burton of Preston, Idaho; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leonard Marble of Moses Lake, Wash., Boyd (Cheryl) Marble of Bothwell, Utah; one sister, Delora (Donnell) Bown, also of Bothwell, Utah. She was preceded in death by her husband, Legrand; her parents, Milton and Jane Marble; two brothers, Clayton and Wayne; and a granddaughter, Shellece. The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Pioneer Valley Lodge and Cache Valley Specialty Hospital for their excellent care of Maurine. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, at Myers Mortuary in Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd., at 1 p.m. Friends may call at the mortuary Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 11:45 to 12:45 p.m. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
