Maurine HarrisMercer, TNMs. Maurine Harris, age 92 of Mercer, passed away peacefully at her home in Mercer on Wednesday morning, September 21, 2016.She was born on September 19, 1924 in Madison County, TN the daughter of the late John Henderson and Lillian Kay Esrey. She was a graduate of Mercer High School and attended West Tennessee Business College. She married Roy Harris in January 1948. She was a member of Union Grove United Methodist Church and was previously a member of Mercer Methodist Church and Bemis United Methodist Church. She served as church treasurer, Sunday school teacher, and Sunday school superintendent. She was also the treasurer for the Mercer Fire Department for a number of years. Maurine enjoyed ceramics and traveling.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Harris; grandson, Stephen Kiestler; and a brother Barney Esrey.She is survived by her two children, E. Taylor Harris of Mercer, TN and Marilyn Harris Kiestler (David) of Jackson; and many brothers and sisters in law and many nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends on Friday evening, September 23, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. at George A. Smith and Sons South Chapel.Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 1 p.m. at George A. Smith and Sons South Chapel with Bro. Joe Thorn officiating.
