MAURICE E. HUTMACHER, 92 FREEPORT - Maurice E. Hutmacher, 92, of Freeport, died Tuesday, October 29, at Presence Saint Joseph Center. Maurice was born on July 31, 1921, in Stockton, the son of Walter and Mable (Pickard) Hutmacher. Mr. Hutmacher married Clarice Butt in Dubuque, Iowa on December 22, 1940. Maurice was a U.S. Navy Veteran and served in World War II. He graduated of Lena High School. He was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ and past President of Eagles Club 679, which he was a member of since 1970. Maurice enjoyed woodworking and following all of his grandkids activities. He also enjoyed doing geneology Maurice farmed in the Freeport, Lena and Pearl City area. And later was employed by Crum and Forrester Insurance Company. He later was employed by Zimmerman and Bocker Auto dealerships. Surviving are his wife of 73 years, Clarice; two daughters, Karyn (Ron) Buss of Lena and Roxine Bremmer of Freeport; daughter-n-law, Elaine; special niece and nephew, Trudy and Dick Alderman; six grandchildren, Jeff Buss, Michelle (Robbie) Saunders, Lori Miller, Tina Hutmacher, David Bremmer and Michael Bremmer. Also surviving are 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Maurice was preceded in death by his son, David E. "Hooter" Hutmacher; two brothers; and two sisters. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. The Rev. Ted Michalsen, pastor of Bethany United Church of Christ and the Rev. Bill Blomberg will officiate. Visitation will be Friday 4 until 7 p.m. at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, with an Eagle service at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. A memorial has been established in his memory.
