Mattie Swartz, 96Eaton - Mattie Swartz, 96, of Eaton, IN passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2017 at her residence. She was born on May 9, 1921 the daughter of James L. and Lucy (Goodson) Clairday. She married Lyle Swartz who preceded her in death after 57 years of marriage.Mattie moved to the area in 1940 and raised her family. She enjoyed family gatherings at her home. She was a homemaker most of her life and a hard worker. She enjoyed gardening, canning and freezing vegetables.Surviving relatives include her son, Daniel Swartz of Royerton, IN; good friend, Bob Mace of Anderson, IN; five grandchildren, Robyn Kudlis (Steve); Dean Pettigrew (April); Dawn Pettigrew; Shaelyn Swartz; Shane Swartz; ten great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband and 14 brothers and sisters.The family would like to thank Wendy Mace for the special care and attention she gave Mattie Swartz as a caregiver.Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN.
