Matt "Bebe" Matanich Jr., 83, lifelong Roslyn resident passed away on October 5, 2011 in Ellensburg. He was born on October 7, 1927 in Roslyn to Matthew and Katie (Radosovich) Matanich. While Matt was in high school he worked for a short time in the mines and for the forest service. Upon graduating from Cle Elum High School, Matt joined the Army and served in post-war Germany. Matt returned to Roslyn and continued working for the United States Forest Service. He was an avid supporter and fan of Cle Elum/Roslyn Warrior sports. Matt was active in Croatian history and activities and belonged to the Roslyn Ronald Cle Elum Heritage Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Katie; and his two brothers, Joe Matanich and John Matanich.Matt is survived by his nephew Mark (Beth) Matanich and their children, Allisa and Tyson; two nieces, Cindy (Mark) Randleman and their children Tessa, Ross, and Stephanie and Carol Sailor and her two children, David and Lisa; he is also survived by many great nieces and nephews.A time of visitation will be offered 5PM-7PM, Wednesday October 12, 2011 at Cascade Funeral Home in Cle Elum. Recitation of the Rosary will follow at 7PM also at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1PM on Thursday October 13, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Roslyn. Burial with military honors will follow at the Roslyn Veteran's Cemetery.
