With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Maryann Elizabeth Nickerson, our loving and devoted mother, nonnie, and friend to all whose lives she touched. Monday, September 30, 2019, after a brave battle with health issues at her home with family, close friends, and her boyfriend by her side, Maryann peacefully transitioned to the end of her life and has now reunited with her loved ones.

Maryann will be remembered forever by her two children, “Kelly Ann Nickerson” and “Richard Elliott Nickerson Jr.” and by her daughter in law, “Karissa Nickerson.” She will also be lovingly remembered by her five grandchildren, who call her, “Nonnie,” “Jayla,” and “Angelina,” “Connor,” “Sloan,” and “Trey.” By her boyfriend, “Dave Kelly Lockert,” and her brother “George Romano,” and his wife, “Linda Romano,” Last but not least, by her favorite cousin, “Bert Clarke.” Maryann will fondly be remembered by many other loving relatives and close friends as well. Predeceased by her parents, “George” and “Angelina Romano” and her beloved precious son, “Thomas Joseph Nickerson.”

Maryann was born and raised on the east coast in Everett, Massachusettes. Her home town was located at the head of the Boston Bay and alongside of the Mystic River. Against all the odds, she moved across the country with her husband and three children to the west coast and landed in mountainous Oregon to raise her family. Although Maryann was physically in Oregon, her heavy heart was left behind in Massachusettes. Regardless of her geographical location, from the busy city streets to the charms of the country life, Maryann was adored and loved by all she knew. If you asked her close friends, they would say, “Maryann was the type of person who always wore a smile on her face and her heart on her sleeve.” Her grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. The legacy of Maryann’s kindred spirit, kindness for others, love of reading, and zest for life will live on forever through them.

With life, came challenges; Maryann was a strong woman, a survivor, a warrior who persevered as she journeyed through her life. No matter how she felt on the inside, Maryann always looked flawless and wore her baggage like a cashmere coat.

When she was born, she cried, and the world rejoiced. When she died, she rejoiced, and the world cried.

Today we cry out because there is one less mother in the world.

Maryann . . . . . you will surely be missed but never forgotten!

We love you to the moon and back!

You can to the family or in memory of Maryann Nickerson.
