Mary Elizabeth Moncrief1937 - 2013Mary Elizabeth Moncrief, 76, passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2013. She was born on July 17, 1937, in Newton, Miss., daughter of the late Johnny and Elvirenda (nee: Loper) Moncrief. Mary was a Kenosha resident for most of her life and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School in 1957. She was employed at AMC/Chrysler in the Payroll department for 22 years, retiring in 1990. After retiring she moved to Waukegan, Ill., and was a resident from 1990-2009. In 2009 she moved to Racine in order to be closer to her family.Mary was a classy lady in every sense of the word. She enjoyed decorating her home; listening to jazz music; and was an accomplished portrait artist. She also liked to cook for her family, watching televised sports, and socializing with her many dear friends. Mary was formerly a member of Coleman Chapel AME Church.Mary is survived by her children, Kimberly D Phillips of Kenosha, Lee E. Brown Jr. of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Angela F. Stefanski of Racine; six grandchildren, Fatima (Charles) Wakefield, Melissa Brown, Nicholas Brown, Phillip (Lena) Cornelious, Asia Cornelious, and Antonio Colwell; thirteen great-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandson Myles Turner, and her brother Joseph Moncrief.Homegoing services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, in the Coleman Chapel AME Church with Rev. J. Hurst presiding. Interment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
