She was surrounded by her loving family as she left this earth for her heavenly home. Visitation will be at Chancellor funeral home Tuesday, September 26 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services are scheduled at 11:00am Wednesday, September 27 at Griffith Memorial Baptist Church of Jackson, MS, with visitation from 10-11am Wednesday at the church. Interment will follow at Lakewood South Cemetery.Mary was born on January 24, 1928, in Kosciusko, MS, to Otho and Alice Williamson. She was raised in the Thomastown community in Attala County. Mary was a resident of Jackson from 1948 to 1991 when she and her husband moved to Byram, MS. She was a long time, active member of Daniel Memorial Baptist Church where she made many life-long friends and taught fifth grade Sunday School for over twenty years. She recently moved her membership to Griffith Memorial Baptist Church. Mary married Fred Hudgins on April 4, 1946. Together they had long, and successful careers as restauranteurs. They owned and operated Dog N Suds Restaurants from 1964 until 1970. In 1970, they founded Hudgey's Restaurants. Mary's greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren who she adored. She will be sorely missed by her family, her loyal and faithful employees, her friends, and all of those who knew and loved her. Mary is preceded in death by her husband Fred Hudgins, and her beloved grandson, Bradley Kyle Gibson; her brothers Vivian Williamson, Kenneth Williamson; sisters, Dorothy Allen, Eva Jenkins, Alice Faye Jackson, and Erma Ezelle. She is survived by her four children Gloria & Walter Welch of Terry, MS, Fredna & Jerry Gibson of Terry, MS, Karen Karam of Atlanta, GA, and Tony Hudgins of Byram, MS. She is survived by her grandchildren, Trey Fortenberry of Red River, NM, Trent & Meg Fortenberry of Brandon, MS, George Karam of Kfour, Lebanon, and Kristian Bacon of Atlanta, GA, Justin & Ramia Karam of Atlanta, GA, Jonathan & Patricia Karam of Atlanta, GA, Joseph & Ashley Karam of Atlanta, GA, Scott & Mary Kendall Gibson of Jackson, MS, Langley Hudgins of Brandon, MS, Megan & Robby Moss of Brandon, MS, and Anthony Hudgins of Brandon, Sean Welch of Madison, MS, Kim Welch of Raymond, MS, Justin Welch of Brandon, MS; 11 great grandchildren, Caitlin Fortenberry of Placentia, CA, London Karam of Atlanta, GA, Elie & Isabella Karam of Atlanta, GA, Mira Karam of Atlanta, GA, Shaggy Moss of Pisgah, MS, Axton Harris & Ember Rose of Brandon, MS, Noah, Rozalan, and Camden Welch of Brandon, MS, and one great-great grandson, Kylo Malagon of Placentia, CA.Mary is survived by one brother Mike Williamson of Thomastown, MS, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Mary's grandsons will honor her as Pallbearers.A special thank you to Gloria and Walter Welch for moving mother to their home for the past year. Mother's health greatly improved from their loving care.We would also like to thank Hospice Sta-Home Care especially Latoya Parker, Brenda Williamson, Jennifer Ashley, and Chaplain Julie Orr for their kind, compassionate care for our mother.
