Mary Mae (Miller) DoughertyNORWICH: Mary Mae (Miller) Dougherty, age 73, of Norwich, Ohio passed away on September 17th, in her home surrounded by loved ones after a two-year fight against cancer. She was born on August 20, 1942 to Francis and Hazel Miller in Coshocton, Ohio. She was raised in Zanesville and was a graduate of ZHS.Mary was an amazing, caring, and loving mother to her three kids, grandkids, and friends. She was a very doting and loving wife to her husband. She always believed in hard work, and often ran circles around her grown children. In addition to constant work needing done, her love of animals kept her feeding the pets and wildlife all day. Mary was a true patriot, having immense respect for the men and women who serve this great country. Anytime a prayer was said in her home, she made certain to include all the men and women that serve this great nation all over the world.Mary is preceded in death by her parents, and is survived by her husband, Robert Dougherty; her children, Dale Mitchell, MaryAnn Hughes, and Deanna (Dan) Eshler; her sister, Patricia (Pete) Clayton; and her brother, Butch (Debbie) Miller. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Mileena and Adam Mitchell, Sarah and Ryan Hughes, and Trevor and Annaliese Eshler; and a very spoiled dog, who will miss her greatly, Zinc. She loved having her home filled with her kids and grandkids, but by the end of the weekend, she was always ready to find her sanity again. In addition to being survived by her family, Mary had an amazing group of friends who have become family. A wonderful weekend was when some, or all of these family and friends came by to visit and play cards with little planning.Friends and family may attend Calling Hours for Mary on Sunday, September 20th from 12-2PM at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord, with services starting promptly at 2PM. Burial will follow at the St. Paul Cemetery and Pastor Chuck Norris will be officiating.
