Mary Katherine Madden RACINE – Mary K. (nee Praeger) Madden, 86 passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at her daughter’s home in Hales Corners. She was a lifelong resident of Racine, born on December 27, 1927, the daughter of the late David and Julia (nee Wiegel) Praeger. Mary was a 1946 graduate of Wm. Horlick High School. She was united in marriage to Jack Madden in October of 1952. Mary had been employed with Johnson Wax as a secretary and later worked for Dr. Savin & Assoc. as an Office Manager for many years. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church. Mary was part of the Resident Council and Representative at Lincoln Villas North. She worked at the nutrition site and volunteered at the Country Store. She made beautiful prayer shawls for St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kenosha. Mary had numerous friends and lit up a room with her warm friendly smile. She will be dearly missed. Surviving is her daughter and son-in-law, Susan Madden-Plouff (David) of Hales Corners; grandsons, Michael (Karen) Diedrich of Racine and Paul Diedrich of Houston, TX, great granddaughter, Kali Elise Diedrich, sister, Julie (Emil) Ruffalo; brothers-in-law, Patrick (Shirley) Madden and Don Madden all of Racine. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Jack on April 25, 1985, daughter, Julie, five brothers and one sister, including special brother, Fred Praeger and special sister, Dorothy Allen. Memorial services will be held at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 1015 Four Mile Rd. on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 230 p.m. with Pastor Michael Mueller officiating. There will be a visitation at the church before services from 1 p.m. until time of service at 230 p.m. Mary will be laid to rest at West Lawn Memorial Park in a private ceremony.
