Mary Frances Heil1940 ~ 2017Mary Frances Heil died Saturday January 28, 2017 in Boise, Idaho, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on April 2, 1940, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Dr. John and Frances Bushnell in Sioux City: one of five children. Schools she attended included Bishop Heelan High School and Saint Mary's College in Chicago. She married Eugene D. Heil in 1960 in Sioux City, Iowa. The newlywed couple lived in several cities and towns, including Chamberlin, South Dakota (where their daughter, Mary Theresa, was born in 1961); Los Angeles, California (where their son Mark was born in 1962 and daughter Patricia was born in 1964); Mt. Shasta, California and Delano, California before settling in Boise, Idaho in 1971. Mary Fran worked for the Independent School District of Boise from which she retired after nearly 30 years of service. She became a well-known fixture in the offices of the school district as she coordinated communications across the district, including publishing the annual school calendar. Mary Fran's most defining feature was being a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She was also an avid reader, knitter, crocheter and enjoyed working crossword and math puzzles. She also snow skied, water skied and was an active runner and a voracious stock trader. Mary Fran and Gene were members of the Southwest Idaho Sports Car Club (SWISCC). As navigator, her greatest challenges were keeping Gene on the right road on time both in the rallies and the rest of the time as well. A long time active member of Saint John's Cathedral, she passed peacefully into God's loving arms surrounded by her husband and three children, while praying the rosary. She passed away during recitation of the Hail Mary at the phrase "pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death." Mary Fran is survived by husband, Eugene D. Heil; children, Theresa May (Ralph), Mark Heil (Michelle) and Patricia Agenbroad (Jeff); two sisters, Cathy (Bushnell) Chambless of Salt Lake City, Utah and Helen (Bushnell) Delaney of Cincinnati, Ohio and seven grandchildren.
