Mary Ann CatroneDes MoinesMary Ann Scavo-Catrone, 86, of Des Moines, died on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at her home. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 13, from 3 to 6 p.m at Tonini Funeral Chapel where a Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 14, at Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial is to follow at Glendale Cemetery.Mary Ann is survived by her daughter Patricia Catrone; four siblings John (Angelina) Scavo, Jim Scavo, Ann Scavo-Riccelli, and Rose Scavo; and many nieces and nephews.She is preceded in death by her husband Thomas, parents, and siblings Pauline Scavo, Dan Scavo, Roy Scavo, Pete Scavo, Lucille Riccelli, Tony Scavo, and Angie Gorsche, and her nephew John M. Scavo.Mary was born on January 14, 1931 in Des Moines, the daughter of Nickola and Patricia Perry Scavo. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy.Mary enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family, and especially helping her sisters work at the downtown farmers market. She was also a charter member of Christ the King Church.Memorials may be directed to Christ the King Catholic Church.The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Gregory Smith and Dr. David Hall for their care of Mary.
