Marvin J. Richter 1926 - 2015 Marvin J. Richter, 88, of Twin Lakes, Wis., died Wednesday morning Oct. 14, 2015, at his home. Marvin James Richter was born on Oct. 17, 1926, in Richmond, Ill., the son of the late Harvey and Irene Smith Richter. They moved to Twin Lakes in 1928 to the new home Harvey built at 810 Wilmot Ave. Marvin attended Cottage School and graduated from Wilmot High School in 1944. He attended Ripon College and graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Business in 1949. He was a lifetime member of the University of Wisconsin Alumni Association. On June 18, 1946, he was married to his high school sweetheart, Bernice Elverman in Wilmot, Wis. They just celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary in June with a dinner party at the Colony House with family and friends. Marvin owned and operated Richter Builders until he was 75 years old. He was the general contractor for Lakewood School and its first addition. He built many homes in the Twin Lakes and Powers Lake area. Marvin was a charter member of the Powers Lake Sportsman Club. He helped build the club house and trap shoots. He played softball on the State Line Transfer team in 1952 when they won the State Championship in Fort Atkinson. He belonged to the Semrau-Scott-Raush Legion Post in Wilmot, Wis. He also played baseball on the Legion team for several years in Fox River Park. Marvin was an outstanding gardener. He grew many vegetables and shared them with his family and friends. He loved birds and animals and fed them everyday. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren, attending their sporting events in baseball and basketball. Marvin loved the family farm. He often made two trips out there during the growing season. He shot a deer on the farm when he was 80 years old. Marvin was a loving husband with a winning smile. He is survived by his wife Bernice; son Paul and Deborah; grandchildren, Joy Richter, Bran and Jennifer, Chad, and Jessica; great grandchildren, Evan, Alec and Ella; step grandchildren-Joseph, Madeline and Mia; his brother-Harvey Richter; sister in law-Pat Richter; nephews-Tom and Jane Richter, Brian and Mary Beula; nieces Catherine and Gary Borowski, Denise and Bill Markee and Renee Beula. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Joyce and Dennis Beula; brother Max Richter; sister-in law Barbara Richter; and nephew William Richter. We wish to thank our friends Maria and Ala for the excellent care they provided for Marvin. We also want to thank Aurora at Home Hospice for their care and help. Funeral services will be held at Noon on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, at the Haase-Lockwood & Assoc. Funeral Home. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery. The Richter Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the Funeral Home.
