TELLO-MARITSASMartha O. Martha O. Tello-Maritsas, age 70, of Sylvania, passed away November 7, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 26, 1946 to Juan and Maria Tello in Toledo. Martha was employed by the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library for 31 years, retiring in 1996. She was a member of Communication Workers of America and helped the union organize the library as their collective bargaining unit. Martha also served as Unit Director and Chief Steward. She enjoyed the monthly luncheons with ten of her classmates from elementary school. Martha loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cooked for the people she loved and was an excellent baker. Martha was loved by everyone and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Martha is survived by her loving husband, Christos; daughter, Yolanda (Murray) Gonzalez-Shy; grandchildren, Maria and Nicolas Symeou, Andre and Andrew Williams and Larissa Shy; great-grandchildren, Zander and Ryder Kwiatkowski and Nicole Mitchell-Symeou; stepchildren, Anna and Costas Maritsas; and sister-in-law, Anna Karounia, of Athens, Greece. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, November 14, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church, 3030 Tremainsville Rd., Toledo. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. The Newcomer Funeral Home - NW Chapel assisted the family with professional services.
