Martha A. Ghiotto, 76, passed away at home with her family, friends and support of Hospice on Sunday, August 2, 2009. She was born on January 28, 1933 in Tucson, Arizona. Martha graduated from Yuma Union High School. She was employed with Spencer & Son as a bookkeeper. She drove the school bus for Immaculate Conception School/ Church. Martha was a 50 year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #398 Auxiliary and also held state and local chair positions. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Martha loved playing Bingo and was an avid bowler; she also was a John Wayne fan and collected John Wayne memorabilia. Martha is survived by her daughters, Rebecca "Becky" Ghiotto (Ernest F. Hurtado) of Yuma, Catherine "Cathy" Ghiotto of Winterhaven, California, and Theresa (Anthony) Fernandez of Yuma; sons, Henry (Glenda) Ghiotto of Winterhaven, and John (Diane) Ghiotto of San Diego, California; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Deodoro "Joe" Aguilar (Geannie) of San Manuel, Arizona; sisters, Rebecca (Ray) Chretin of Yuma, and Arcelia (Frank) Herrera of Tucson; and many nieces and nephews. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Angel R. and Salome Aguilar; brothers, Victor Aguilar and Fernando Aguilar. A visitation will be held at Johnson Mortuary on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. The rosary will take place at 7:00 p.m. A mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church on Friday, August 7, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Her final resting place will be Desert Lawn Memorial Park. Officiating will be Father Lucero. Pallbearers will be Nicky Hurtado, Chris Ghiotto, Tyler Ghiotto, Anthony Aguilar, Henry Michael Ghiotto, Jacob Ghiotto, Adrian Ghiotto, Anthony Michael Fernandez, Robert Fernandez, and Lionel Montague. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Ghiotto, John Ghiotto, Deodoro "Joe" Aguilar, Frank Herrera, Joe Martinez, Robert Ghiotto, Alex Torres and Ray Chretin.
