Marlin R. Hagen Racine- Marlin R. Hagen, 92, passed away at Harmony Assisted Living Center on Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Marlin was born on the family farm in Modena on April 7, 1920, to Albert and Velma (nee: Anderson) Hagen. He worked on the family farm until September 1942 when he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. Marlin served in the China-Burma- India Theater. Marlin said, "I would never forget coming into the New York Harbor on Christmas Eve and seeing the Statue of Liberty." Marlin was fortunate to have taken part in the Honor Flight in September of 2010. On January 8, 1946, he married Beverly Nelson in Mondovi. They lived in Modena where Marlin worked at the Modena Creamery. The family moved to Alma in 1952 and then Racine in 1964. Marlin worked at J.I. Case Company retiring after 22 years. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, HUMP Pilots Association and the V.F.W. Marlin loved the outdoors, whether it was fishing, hunting, walking in the woods and hills of the family farm, running trap lines, or taking the grandkids and later his great grandson to Lake Michigan to throw rocks or to the Root River to catch crawfish with liver and a string. He always looked forward to having a good cup of coffee with friends every day. Marlin is survived by his wife of 66 years, Beverly Hagen; daughter, Roberta (Randy) Youngs; sons, Michael (Karen) Hagen and Kim Hagen; 6 grandchildren, Toni (Luke) Adrian, Traci (Shawn Wochnick) Youngs, Anders (Meghan) Hagen, Amanda Hagen, Casey (Tyler) Pitt and Chad Hagen; 5 great grandchildren, Jacob, Tyler and Nathan Adrian, Brielle Hagen and Brody Pitt; sister, Jurdis (Don) Mann; brother, Sonny (Jean) Hagen; sisters- in- law, Elaine Hagen and Myrna Hagen; and brother- in- law, August Schreiner. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends. Marlin was preceded in death by his parents, sister Alda Schreiner and two brothers Calvin and Vern Hagen. Funeral services for Marlin will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. Interment will take place in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services. Memorials to Hospice Alliance or Faith United Methodist Church have been suggested. Marlin's family would like to thank Hospice Alliance, Home Instead, Harmony Assisted Living and Dr. Zablotney.
