Wake service will be celebrated Friday, March 16, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. at Fountain Memorial Home in Lafayette, Louisiana for Mr. Mark A. Miller Sr., 84, who passed Wednesday March 14, 2018, at Amelia Manor Nursing Home in Lafayette, La. Funeral services will proceed on Saturday March 18, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. at Little Zion Baptist Church in Opelousas, La.

Visitation will be observed Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in New Iberia.

Mark was the only child of Micheal and Betty Miller, born on January 3, 1933. He graduated from J. S. Clark Senior High School I  1952, and Florida State Community College in 1956. 

Mark loved football and was an accomplished running back for then, Florida State League. He was an avid swimmer, one his son could never beat. Mark also enjoyed gardening and sharing his harvest with friends, family, and neighbors over the years. He was an entrepreneur for over 40 years and managed to own stores all throughout Southwest Louisiana and neighboring states.

Mark was survived by his daughters, Pauline Richard (Albert), Wanda Norton (Warren), Lisa Felix (Gussie), Dorthy Richard (Thomas), Florena Major (Rogers); one son, Mark Miller Jr. (Ronda); 17 grandchildren, 7 grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was proceeded in death by his parents and his beloved wife of 58 years, Dorothy Richard Miller.

The family wishes to thank his wonderful caregivers and friends for all the support and loved. Our family extends a gracious gratitude of appreciation to Manor Nursing Home and Hospice of Acadiana for their compassionate and comforting care during our father's last days.
