Marjorie Perkins Obituary

Jul 03, 1923 - Jan 07, 2016

This obituary is administered by:

Our mother, Marjorie Perkins, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 7, 2016. She was born on July 3, 1923 in Louin, Mississippi. She was one of 12 children.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Ken Perkins and wife Pam, daughter, Nancy Zeornes and husband Wayne, grandchildren, Jason Hilzendager, Megan Capps and husband Justin, Lisa Hilzendager and Matlock Perkins, step grandchildren, David Zeornes and wife Sabrina; Angela Rogers and husband Kendall, great grandchildren, Peyton Capps, Ashton Capps, Triston Capps, Corbin Capps, Riley Rogers, Mason Rogers and Colton Zeornes, extended family members, Misty Petty and husband Travis and their sons Taylor and Caden. Five siblings remain, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Mother was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Mack Perkins. A host of relatives and friends met her at the gates of Heaven, including her identical twin sister Juanita. They were so connected that on the same day mom had her double bypass in 1977, Juanita went to the doctor because her heart hurt. Even though, she was two states away and didn't know mom was having heart surgery. Mom didn't want to worry her.

That was our mother, selfless, compassionate, and giving. She was an example and inspiration for all of us.

As a registered nurse, she was a working mother long before that was common and boy, did she work. Her career carried her from working in a doctor's office to head nurse in a hospital. She taught LVN's and ran a nursing home. All of this...too much more to mention here, we kids never felt neglected, ever!

She was also an activist, not that anyone would have known it. When she was being introduced to Congressman Kevin Brady, he knew her first name before we told him. Why? She had called his office so often that he remembered her first name. While looking through her personal effects, we discovered a draft of a letter to a Mr. Carter. We finally realized that this was a letter to President Carter encouraging him to be true to his faith.

Most importantly, our mother was a born again believer that never got tired of telling others that they too could be born again. The world has lost one of the mightiest prayer warriors, but Heaven is richer for it.

We would like to thank the wonderful caring people at Heritage Oaks and the incredible nurses and staff at Kindred Hospice. We never worried about mom with you on the job.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 9, 2016 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Cashner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 10:00am in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Pastor Wes Pratt officiating. Burial will follow in Garden Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Northside Baptist Church building fund.
