Marinus "Shorty" KloetMarinus "Shorty" Kloet, 91, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, at Grande Prairie Health & Rehab.He was born on Oct. 2, 1925, to the late Jacob and Elizabeth (Buteyn) Kloet in Kenosha. He was educated in the schools of Kenosha.Shorty entered the U.S. Navy on Dec. 21, 1943, and was honorably discharged on April 15, 1946.On May 18, 1951, he married Thelma Schaver in Fulton, Ill. Shorty worked in maintenance for 39 years at AMC, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Local UAW #72. Shorty was a member of Christian Reformed Church and was active as a deacon and usher. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and liked to be outdoors.Shorty is survived by his loving wife Thelma of 65 years; children, Frederick P. Kloet of Kenosha, Barbara S. (Matthias J.) Gapko of Burlington; granddaughter Ashley M. Gapko of Burlington; and brother Chester (Pat) Kloet of Zion, Ill.He is preceded in death by his brother, John, and his sister, Nellie Westplate.Funeral Services for Shorty will be held on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m. from the Bruch Funeral Home. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
