Marie Hamstra, 90, of DeMotte, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at the Oak Grove Christian Retirement Village in DeMotte where she had resided since 2003. Marie was born on Sept. 5, 1925, in Iowa, the daughter of John and Cornelia (Smit) Dykhuizen.Marie attended schools in Iowa and Illinois.  On Jan. 30, 1945, in DeMotte, Marie married Robert Hamstra, who passed away on Feb. 3, 2004.  Marie enjoyed being a homemaker and taking care of her family.  She was a member of the First Reformed Church in DeMotte and had been a member of the Willing Workers of First Reformed Church.Marie leaves behind her children, Ronald (Janice) Hamstra of DeMotte, Joan (Robert) Veld of Wayland, Michigan, and Robert (Linda) Hamstra of DeMotte; brother, John (Evelyn) Dykhuzien of Virgie; sisters, Alberdena Hoffman of Stewartville, Michigan, and Evelyn Koster of DeMotte; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert Hamstra, and a sister.Friends may visit at the First Reformed Church in DeMotte, from 9-11 a.m., on Saturday, March 12, 2016.  A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, at the First Reformed Church in DeMotte, with Pastor Isaiah DeMoss officiating.  Interment will be at the Holland Cemetery in DeMotte.Memorial contributions may be made to Oak Grove Christian Retirement Village or to the Fransciscan Health Rensselaer Home Health Care & Hospice.
