Marian Anita Simonds, 88, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at the Yuma Nursing Center. She was born on July 13, 1925 in Red Wing, Minnesota and came to Yuma in 1968. Marian worked in the food service industry for 60 years. Marian was an avid quilter and independent thinker. She was preceded in death in 2010 by her loving husband, Roy N. Simonds Jr,. to whom she was married to for 42 years. She was also preceded in death by daughter, Nadine M. Hayden; sons, James C. and Michael R. Pape. Marian is survived by her loving children: sons, Gordon M. Hayden of Los Amores, CO and Frederick W. Pape of Glendale, AZ; daughters, Hallie S. Press of Caldwell, ID, Carol L. Zandera of Vestal New York, Stephanie E. Leseman of Show Low, AZ, and Mary L. Alka of Yuma, AZ; 15 Grandchildren and 21 Great Grandchildren. Celebration of Life service will be on Saturday, January 11, 2014 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Gateway Park (Ramada 37), 259 N. Gila Street, Yuma, AZ.
