Margaret Yates, 90, of Colusa passed away December 13, 2016 at Prestige Assisted Living Center in Marysville, CA. She was born on August 26, 1926 in Colusa, CA to James Watt and Florence Harbison-Watt. Margaret along with her sister Ruth and brother Jimmy grew up on the family Ranch off of Maxwell Rd. After finishing her education, she worked at Western Title Company in Sacramento. She married Charles Raymond Yates, also a Colusa native. Margaret and Charles moved back to Colusa in the early 70's to be closer to family and help with the family farming activities. Charles passed away in 1993. Margaret was a charter member of the Soroptimist International of Colusa County, CA. She was an avid gardner, and world traveler. Margaret loved hosting holidays for her family. She was a very generous contributor to many charities and local causes. She was a strong supporter of the local businesses in Colusa. She will be missed by all her family and friends. Margaret is survived by her Nephew's David McMills (Diane) of Colusa, CA, Douglas McMills of Fresno, CA, Gary Yates (Judy) of Cody, WY, Harold Yates (Pam) of San Saba, TX, Nieces Gail Swingel of Ocala, FL, Gloria Lacy (Bill) of San Antonio, TX, Sisters-in-Law Jane Yates of San Saba, TX and Marjorie Yates of Williams, CA. Margaret has numerous Great Nieces and Nephews and Great Great Nieces and Nephews. Graveside services are scheduled for Thursday, December 22, 2016, 10:00 A.M. at the Colusa Cemetery, 1976 Wilson Ave., Colusa, CA 95932.
