Margaret Edith Weatherbee, aged 94, passed away peacefully with family at her side on March 1, 2017, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Margaret was born on May 15, 1922, in Devlin, Ontario, and was raised on the family farm. She was hard-working and had a kind heart. In 1951, she married Morley Weatherbee, her husband of 60 years. They raised their family together as they worked in Abitibi camps before moving to Thunder Bay where they kept busy with their boys' hockey and baseball. Margaret will be sadly missed by sons Gary Lindquist (Glenna) and Robert (Karen) and Jake (Barb) Weatherbee. Her proudest role was as Grandma to her beloved grandchildren, Gary Jr. (Kristy), Mark (Vanessa), Tanner (Michelle), Sara, and great grandchildren Mitchell, Jack and Margaret. Spending time with them and keeping up with their lives brought her great joy. She was predeceased by her parents George and Annie Cooke, brother Leonard Cooke, sister Jean (Wallace 'Bubs' Hughes), granddaughter Shayne and brother-in-law Ted Davis. She is survived by sisters Lois (Wilfred Caul) and Fay Davis, brother David (Clareen) Cooke and numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff of St. Joseph's Hospice for their compassionate care. In accordance with Margaret's wishes, a private service for immediate family will be held following cremation. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2 to 6 pm, in the Tower Room, Waverley Park Towers. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Joseph's Foundation or George Jeffrey Children's Centre would be appreciated.
